Celtic Manor – Montgomerie As an extremely novice golfer I enjoyed my round of golf at the Montgomerie golf course and rate it as one of the best golf courses in South Wales. With a variety of long and short holes (not to mention the challenging deep pot bunkers) it is a great course to play and a good learning experience for me. With spectacular views of the local area, the great downhill shots alone ensure that I will be playing again this summer on a golf weekend break.

Gosh this was course was hard work, as a beginner I found it difficult to negotiate the course, which in places was very tight. I would recommend a trolley or buggy as we were exhausted with the constant up and down of the course. A trolley would have made it much more relaxing as we quickly got tired and they affected my game on the back nine. A buggy would have been even better you would feel a lot more fresh.

WOW what a course (2010 course), it's a long un, but worth it. I was given a voucher for Christmas and played in Jan but it was just like playing in the summer as there were no winter tees and the course looked great. loved the 5th, 14th, 17th and 18th, the 18th was the most challenging with a great downhill fairway going uphill to the clubhouse finish. had a three course meal after in the clubhouse the service was great. Played the Roman Road the day after and that was fab too... would recommend to anyone well worth it and planning to go back and play the third course the Montgomerie.
